I am Island Emory

A cultural bridge from Hau‘ula to Las Vegas.

Dr. Island Emory is a Hall of Fame broadcaster, cultural diversity ambassador, and founder of Little Grass Shack—the longest-running Hawaiian music radio program in Las Vegas.

Born into a military family, Emory attended thirteen schools while carrying his Hawaiian heritage everywhere he went. In 1999, he brought that foundation to KUNV 91.5 FM and began building an on-air ‘ohana around music, community, and connection.

Today, his work keeps the sound and spirit of the islands moving forward—from legendary Hawaiian artists to contemporary Jawaiian music and conversations with the people shaping culture now.

Aloha is action

Spreading culture from the heart to the world.

Dr. Emory’s purpose is rooted in a simple belief: cultural understanding, civility, and kindness can bring people closer. Every broadcast and conversation is an invitation to join the village, honor where we come from, and move forward together.

“Whether you’ve been listening for 20 years or 20 minutes, you’re part of the ‘ohana.”
